Beach Towns: Tamarindo
Tamarindo is widely considered the ‘hot spot’ of Guanacaste’s Gold Coast in Costa Rica. This town has decidedly grown up and out of it’s quaint beach and fishing village persona as it has become the center of tourism, commerce and activity in the area. The town itself is rather small but packed with tourist attractions and accommodations like hotels, hostels, restaurants, night clubs, shops and services. The days are dominated by the beach and the nearly perfect weather. Traveler and ticos come from all over to enjoy this beautiful place. And when the sun goes down, it really starts to heat up, especially in the high season when the air is filled with the cuisine of the multitude of restaurants.

Everyone enjoys cocktails as the sunsets in beach side cafes and bars. Soon the live music kicks in and there’s nothing you can't find that suits your style and taste. Tamarindo is one of the few towns that parties until past midnight and is popular because of it. But it’s not for everyone. Many find it to be too much their tastes, opting for many of the towns that surround Tamarindo for that reason. Like Langosta, Playa Grande, Junquial and lots of quieter spots that are only a short drive away.
Tamarindo is best known for it’s surfing for all ages and skill levels. In parts, the gentle rolling surf is perfect for the beginner, where other parts are not for the unskilled or faint of heart. These places are commonly the site for international surfing competitions attracting locals and visitors from all over the world.
With all the visitors that descend upon this area, accommodations are plentiful with reports and hotels and hostels and all the supporting employment. Many residential developments have popped up all around this area making vacation rentals and homes for sale plentiful.
